Legal Counsel APPLY
The Leading financial services corporation across Frontier Emerging Markets (FEM)
Sixth of October, Al Jizah, Egypt
Purpose:
Provide assistance to the General Counsel to enhance the effectiveness of the Legal Department while working closely with all business partners and stakeholders in the firm as and when required.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in serving the transactional and operational needs of all business lines specifically the Investment Banking, Brokerage and Private Equity teams in Cairo.
- Review and comment on specific Egyptian law matters including; CMA regulations, banking regulations, investment funds laws and regulations, and the labour law.
- Review and analyse Arabic legal documents (regardless of jurisdiction).
- Review, draft and negotiate general corporate and specific banking contracts and documents including but not limited to: sale and purchase agreements, confidentiality agreements, mandate letters, escrow agreements, account opening forms (Brokerage), bank account, and custody terms and conditions.
- Manage external counsel as needed.
- Establish and maintain a legal database of group entities and a precedent database.
- Research legal issues and evaluate different risk factors.
- Review progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external lawyers and prepare monthly reports on such cases.
- Provide assistance as needed on legal matters referred to the legal t function.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- A minimum of 3- 5 years’ experience post qualification in a top tier local or multi-national law firm or reputable multinational company as an in-house lawyer preferably in the banking and financial sector.
- Strong drafting skills (i.e. comfortable drafting legal documents in both English & Arabic).
- Strong negotiating skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Able to analyse situations and information.
- Excellent command of Arabic and English.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
- Able to build partnerships and work well in teams.
- Can identify problems and refer/escalate complex issues to a higher level.
- Ensure deliverable are always of a high quality.
- Able to work under pressure, with attention to detail and minimal supervision.
